Entropy is a concept that comes from the physics. Entropy is the process of normal decaying into chaos, randomness, and disorder.
Entropy is commonly understood as a measure of disorder. Research concerning the relationship between the thermodynamic quantity entropy and the evolution of life began around the turn of the 20th century. There is a well-known example that many people may agree is that your bedroom always has a tendency to be more messy ( increase of entropy or disorderliness ) unless you spend some time and energy ( the process of energy working ) to keep it neat ( in order).
“熵”是一个来自于物理学的概念。“熵”通常情况下是指从“规律态”变化到“混乱态”的过程。
“熵“值的大小,通常用来衡量混乱随机程度的大小,熵值越高,越混乱。
20世纪初,物理热力学中的“熵”的概念开始被和生活中的变化联系起来,用以解释一些现象。例如,通常情况下我们认为,“卧室内的秩序”总有越来越差的趋势(“熵”值的增加),而当我们花时间和体力收拾过屋子之后(”做功过程“的能量消耗),卧室会变得整洁一些(”熵“值重新降低)。
“The entropy of the building“, Digital simulation works.
This work analyse the definition of entropy in thermodynamics field and apply it to the social activities. The appliaction actually redefines the chaos of the crowd. After this, when combined with space changes , there is the born of the new concept: " the entropy of building."
楼宇的熵,概念数字模拟作品,通过细致地分析物理热力学中“熵”的概念,并将其投射到社群活动中,从而将人群的混乱程度重新定义,匹配上空间和时间的概念,大胆提出了”楼宇的熵“这一概念。
在本作品的理论阶段,艺术家通过大量调研,为“楼宇的熵”寻找理论基础,并发表了文章。
文章的核心内容是,通过不同的论证方法,提出了影响”楼内人行为混乱程度“的多种因素,包括人群密度,时间,场合变化等,其中最关键的因素被命名为“标准自我约束程度“。
简单的来说,“标准自我约束程度”是用来度量人类在社会活动场合中,因为公众压力或公共规则而主动克制自己的强度。
In the beginning period of work, the artist did a large number of research and published an article to set the theoretical basis of the "building's entropy"
The core content of the article is that, through the demonstration methods, some factors were found influencing the actions of people in the building, including population density, time and the occasion changes. The most importent one was named as " Discipline Intensity "(DI). In simple terms, "Discipline Intensity" is used to measure how much people have intention to restrain their behaviors in social activities, because of the peer pressure or public rules.



In this digital works, the building is treated as a whole while the people in the building are regarded as a molecular. Not only outline the trajectory of their movements ,but also matching with sounds and pictures. This simulation shows us how the building "living" and its apperence within 24 hours.
It is worth emphasizing that all the data used were collected from the real atmosphere. The work is a digital portrait of the construction (Hong Kong Shaw Creative Media Centre) , showing the change of "Entropy" in the building from dawn to midnight.
在这个概念作品中,作者将整座建筑视作整体,将生活其中的人视作分子,勾勒它们的活动轨迹,匹配上音效和画面,为我们描绘出了生动的楼宇面貌。值得强调的是,作品中所有的数据均来自于真实采样,完整地模拟了建筑(香港邵逸夫创意媒体中心)在24小时内的点点滴滴,呼应着楼宇的“熵”的变化。
